About the Lupus Research Alliance

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is the world’s leading private funder of lupus research. Established in 2016 – from the merger of the Alliance for Lupus Research, the Lupus Research Institute, and the S.L.E. Foundation – the Lupus Research Alliance was created to improve treatments for lupus while advancing toward a cure. This effort includes raising funds and advocating on behalf of the lupus community in the public policy arena.

We believe that scientific research is the most powerful way we can improve the lives of people living with lupus, today and over the long term. By pushing the limits of scientific exploration and shepherding new discoveries into potential treatments, we aim to seize every opportunity that will help ease the burden of people living with this difficult disease.

For 2020 and 2021, the LRA reimaged the Walk to help ensure everyone’s safety during COVID-19. Using the latest simulation technology, the event will feature inspirational speakers and interactive activities to celebrate on one day, as one community, behind one goal: to support lupus research programs that will unravel the complexity of this disease affecting millions in millions of ways. No one individual can do it alone — but ManyOne Can!

We hope you will join the ManyOne Can. Walk with Us to Cure Lupus event along with your friends, family members, co-workers and the entire lupus community. Walk wherever and whenever you like to raise funds and come together on October 2nd to celebrate everyone’s success.

The Lupus Research Alliance’s signature national fundraising program Walk with Us to Cure Lupus began in 2002. Today, tens of thousands of volunteers have joined the LRA’s quest to find a cure for lupus. Participants share their stories and their spirit, while raising funds for lupus research. To date, the Walk Program has raised over $41 million for lupus research. 100% of every dollar goes directly to support lupus research programs, because our Board of Directors funds all administrative and fundraising costs.

Why is the name of the Walk, ManyOne Can. Walk with Us to Cure Lupus presented by GSK?

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) has reimagined the Walk for 2020 as an exciting celebration to unite the entire lupus community behind one goal on one day – to cure lupus. The Walk name provides a rallying cry for everyone. No one can do it alone, but ManyOne Can. And together we will.

How do I register for the ManyOne Can. Walk with Us to Cure Lupus presented by GSK online event on September 12th?

Go to the “Register” button on the Walk page. You’ll see three options that you can choose from – register as an individual, join a team or create a team. Follow the prompts and complete the form. You will be guided through the registration process. Once your registration is complete, you will receive an order confirmation e-mail receipt which will let you create your password. Who will I be able to chat with?

You’ll be able to live-chat with staff from our Admissions, Student Finance, Academic Services, Learner Services, and Career Services departments.

How much is the Registration Fee?

Your email address is your username. Your password is case sensitive. If you can’t remember your password, login to your page & click “forgot password” and you will receive an email. If you still have problems, please email us at walks@lupusresearch.org or call 866-925-5257.

Can my children take part in the ManyOne Can. Walk with Us to Cure Lupus presented by GSK? Do they have to register?

Yes, there will be fun activities for children. Please register all participants, including your children.

What is LRA doing on September 12th?

The Lupus Research Alliance is hosting a reimagination of our ManyOne Can. I was already registered for a regional Walk event. Do I need to register again?

Yes, if you’ve already registered for a local 2020 Walk you need to re-register here. Once you register, we’ll transfer all your fundraising dollars on to the website for you!

I participated last year in a Lupus Research Alliance Walk. Can I use the same login information?

You will not be able to use the same login information as 2019 or before. Please create a new username and password.

How do I make a donation?

You can donate online to the Lupus Research Alliance by choosing to donate directly, on your page or someone else’s page. Clicking Here to be directed to the Walk with Us page.

How do I email friends and family to donate or Walk with Me?

Once you have registered, email your supporters by logging into your Fundraising page using your username (email address) and password. Click on the “emails” tab. You’ll have the option of selecting different templates – “ask for donations,” “thank you for donating,” and if you’re the captain of a team, you’ll have the added option of “recruit new teammates.” Click on the desired template and then click “copy message.” You’ll be able to send out the emails directly from your personal computer.

How do I text my friends and family about the Walk from a mobile device?

When viewing your fundraising page from a mobile device, the share arrow gives you the option to share your page via text. From your fundraising page, click the share arrow just to the right of your name. The text option only displays on mobile devices that are able to text. Therefore, the text option will not display when sharing the page from your computer.

Can friends and family donate through Facebook?

Can friends and family donate in support of a Participant through the main website?

Yes. On the Walk website homepage, friends and family can locate a participant by clicking on the “Donate” button and putting in the name of the participant, where they will be directed to the participant’s personalized page. We encourage you to make the page your own.

Why is the "Donate" button not finding a participant or a team I know has registered?

You must type in the first name or last name of the participant exactly how it is spelled. The same applies for locating a team. If you have a problem locating a participant or team, please contact us at walks@lupusresearch.org or call 866-925-5257.

Can a donor donate anonymously?

Yes. Donors have the option of remaining anonymous on the online donation page.

How can I see who has donated to me?

Go to your page and you will see your donors listed.

How long will it take to get confirmation of my offline donation?

Is my information secure?
